Brainstorming

Daydreaming is the first stage of vision making for me. Brainstorming is the next. Putting feet on the ideas is the third. We are in that stage.

For all parents and all kids (8th grade and up) - I have an idea to throw out to you - an idea for which I've begun the initial exploration. We have in our midst a veritable treasure chest; students and young adults laden with giftings and talents waiting to be catapaulted into action. I know this to be true - I just spent two months working quite closely with many of them.

So let's do it!

This summer let's form some teams of preachers, musicians, dramatists, counselors, and administrative workers - and let's send them out. I've contacted two ministries in Spain, Elisa Meyers knows two more contacts in Mexico and one in Nepal, and Bob Dale is working on some possibilities in Turkey! And that's just the foreign possibilities - there are domestic arenas to explore as well.

I've told these folks that we have young people who can do street evangelism, youth rallies, inhouse ministry to youth, ministry to parents, etc. I would like to see them all ready to share their testimony, the counselors ready to invest one on one, those who preach armed with at least two solid Bible teachings, the musicians prepared to lead worship with some songs in the native language as well as specials in English, the dramatists with 2-3 dramas, and the administrator types ready to keep it all happening. We would need one adult chaperone per group.

So, for those who have read this: get the word out! Begin to pray. Get your passport in faith - start the process today!! (Even if this all falls through, you will be ready for the next time!) Brainstorm plans for raising the finances - and start saving yourselves! Let me know if you are interested - with all those possibilities, there is room for everyone and a place for everyone's gift! There is no excuse for holding back. God has the resources to pay the way - and you are His resources to send!

Let's move!!

ps - Let me know if you are interested ASAP. We need to know what kind of numbers there might be and who to assemble into different teams. I have no concrete dollar amounts or dates since I have no concrete plans - you are in on the early stages of this one!

Now let me ask you this - what better plans do you have for your summer?

I know a young Japanese man who works with a local ministry for teens. I can send him an email for you. Also, Jennifer Lindsay has a major calling to Japan, though she's going to Romania this summer on a missions trip. I know she can't finantially afford a second mission trip, or that she can take more time off- but she definitely has the heart to go (and would probably be interested in leading the team if the $$ wasn't an issue). But hey, why not ask her, right? I'll see what I can do.

Kath,
I just talked with Frank Farrow from Betel Ministries (betel.org) in Madrid , Spain. The director there is sure we could come and be of use, but would also need to plan some trips during the week to outlying cities and churches. Prank or Tom Spyker may be able to help us with that. If we go to Betel (they also have a center in NYC that is run by friends of John and Elisa - Elisa already spoke with them and they think we should be able to spend some time there as well) they are saying that we all need to read the book "I Dance Because I Cannot Fly" (see amazon.com)
Elisa is also checking into some ministry opportunities in her hometown so that we could have our trip coincide with hers and John's this July. They would not be able to caperone the trip since the main focus will be her father, but she could set us up with the church there and then spend some time with us when they are available.

All of these opportunities will mostly involve street evangelism and some inhouse ministry to the saints. No committments have been made yet - still checking it all out.

Am also thinking of Team Redeem type opportunities - seending our kids into a church for a weekend of ministry to other kids. Teens love to hear from other teens and our kids have so much to offer. I hope we can do something along these lines as well.

Keep praying for His will. I think He has much for them to do!

I love your ideas. I wish I were 16! If we can be on board we will. It will depend on work schedules, etc... You know, college costs money. Keep us informed though. We will get on the passport, just in case!

Oh, you are taking my back to the Team Redeem days. It was such fun and I really did learn so much! Unfortunately, this is not the season for such "great adventures" for me! (a 10 month old and being 5 months pregnant... just doesn't seem right!) I will keep the plans in prayer and let you know if I have any ideas!

Hannah,

Are you interested? Things are starting to come together. The prices look pretty reasonable compared to standard mission trips. We will do it relatively inexpensively, including sleeping on floors when necessary.
Call me for more info!

Johnny__M here...

Not that we need to go there this summer, but if you have a chance, listen to Paul Harvey news (paulharvey.com) Monday noon.

7 minutes into the news cast he called on young missionaries everywhere to consider going to Anacostia (Washington DC suburb).
