My Anna-ish Day

Forgive my preoccupation these days. Most of my mental energy is devoted to learning lines, studying character, and practicing a "proper English accent". This Mrs. Anna is feisty, independent, loving, and so -- proper (when it suits her ways, that is.)

So after reviewing and rehearsing my lines (some of them incessantly, or so it seemed, until I discovered just the right inflection or tenderness or whatever is needed for that moment in the script) I popped in a DVD of Sense and Sensibility featuring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. If Austen by Emma and Kate is not a recipe for fine upper-crust British enunciation, I don't know what is. Oh, I drank in those round tones and crisp consonants. Lovely. Delightful. Studied and careful.

Now to keep those proper sounds happening through tantrums, school lessons, singing and dancing, and everything else that Mrs. Anna Leonowens does. Hmmm. This is going to be such fun!!
